The Golem Group/UCLA entry started the race at the 7th pole position. Golem 2's performance was fantastic: it got to the 28-mile marker faster than all other vehicles in the race. Sadly, a software glitch caused the on-board computer to shutdown at approximately 34 miles, and led to a spectacular, if short-lived, 60mph run through the desert brush.
